Re: Caravan from NYC/NJ Metro Area?

On Thursday try I-26 from Johnson City to I-40 in Asheville, then US74 at Waynesville. It's nearly the same time and mileage but much more scenic.

+1 for the Atlanta airport. I was going to suggest the Charlotte NC airport but Josh is right, Alanta should be better. Yes, when you get your rental car be sure to tell them you will be crossing state lines. Expect an extra charge for crossing state lines. Plan on two shirts per day. You'll be outs...

Robbibsville Music Festival - Dancing on the Square

I was browsing the Graham County Travel website and found this. I thought I should post it if anyone was interested. Re: Friday Fat Buddies

I feel I must post a word of warning here. Mcdurmott and Commentator have organized the Friday evening run in the past but aren't doing it this year. No one has stepped up to take their place. Part of what they did was cordinate with Fat Buddies so they were prepared for a large group. Fat Buddies w...

I always wondered why that was there. I figured they wouldn't build a big brick pilon for no reason.
OK, we'll start calling it the "zip line pilon."

Re: Damn_ Photo

I still think that the best dam picture was the first dam picture in 2002. Notice how tall the grass was and notice that didn’t stop us from parking in the grass. The first row lined up at the obelisk (if that’s what you call it). You can see it in the lower right corner of the picture of the first ...

Re: Damn_ Photo

It's not about the picture. It's about getting all the Miatas and all the people together at one time and in one place. The picture is just the excuse to do that. At the dam picture I see Miatas that I don't see at any other time the whole weekend. I always see people I haven't seen for years and me...

Re: Miatas at the Gap XVII - July 26-28, 2013

I've thought about starting a first timer guide too. I was going to call it the "First Timer Primer" or "Miata's at the Gap 101." A first timer should also read this. It was written in '99 after the third MATG and gives you a good perspective on the philosophy of the event . http...

What is this 50's themed dinner? I'm thinking it could be an alternate to Fat Buddies sometime.

Yes there are two runs. The evening dinner run is still without a leader but I'm sure someone will step up even if it's not until 5 minutes before departure.

Friday morning run - 100% chance
Friday evening run - 90% chance

Re: Thursday Evening Sunset Cherohala run

If you start from Fontana let me suggest this route to the Cherohala: http://goo.gl/maps/ZRSx1 People starting from Robbinsville would need to rendezvous at point B. I haven't done this run before but I want to this year. Starting from Robbinsville would suit me better but I could do either.

Ok, here goes. Yes there are 2 runs to Fat Buddies. The Friday morning spirited run has spirited driving as its goal. They have to stop for lunch someplace so they eat at Fat Buddies. The Friday evening Fat Buddies run has eating at Fat Buddies as its goal. We take Wayah road to get there, which inv...

Get on their waiting list. They sometimes have blocks of rooms reserved. A room can open up when the unused rooms in the block are released.

Re: Miatas at the Gap XVII - July 26-28, 2013

There is no registration, Miatas at the Gap is a completely informal event. However there is a registration of sorts. When you arrive in the vendor's area look for the tent from the Graham County Tourist and Visitors Bureau. Sign their registration book and you'll get a commemerative dash plaque. Th...

Re: Schedule of events

No fee but there is a registration of sorts. In the vendor area find the Graham County Tourist and Visitors Bureau tent. They have a registration book, more like a guest list. Sign the book and recieve a free dash plaque.
